When Rebecca tells James he could be a comic-book super-engine, he takes her seriously, and Rail Rocket is born. Nia is bringing an elephant to the Sodor Animal Park, but the elephant does not like steam engines. Thomas pushes Shankar into entering the Fancy Costume Contest, even though Shankar does not want the spotlight on him. When a pretend emergency turns into a real emergency, Emily comes to the rescue. Thomas agrees to swap jobs with them for the day, but this causes more trouble than he expects. In Brazil, Thomas meets two wood-burning engines who have never travelled beyond their eucalyptus railway. When a Railway Show for little engines comes to Sodor, an overly excited Percy finally sees his chance to shine. Thomas discovers a missing dog on the railway and tries to find it a new home. All previous media is no longer considered canon to the reboot, as it was revealed that the new series is a completely separate show and franchise rather than a twenty-fifth series due to the 1984-2021 series ending.Įmily worries that she does not have a best friend, but when the other engines help her out of a tricky situation, she realises she has been surrounded by best friends all along. Later that same year, Mattel revealed that the show would be rebooted from scratch with Thomas & Friends: All Engines Go!, which uses Flash animation instead of CGI and would be animated by Nelvana from then on. In 2020, it was revealed by Sodor Island Fansite/Forums that the series had officially concluded due to the failure of the Big World! Big Adventures! rebrand and would not be returning for a twenty-fifth series, although the franchise itself would continue on.
